Connecticut Shops and Showrooms

A slew of store openings will have Manhattanites making the pilgrimage to Connecticut to check out their neighbor state’s new design-forward offerings.

Greece-based Togas House of Textiles, for instance, has made its U.S. debut in Greenwich (51-53 E. Putnam Ave.). Expect a luxurious selection of fine fabrics in the form of decadent goose-down pillows and bed linens, terry robes and Egyptian cotton towels.

Just down the street, New York City designers Robert Passal and Kim Alessi opened their new atelier, Putnam & Mason (34 E. Putnam Ave.), below, to much fanfare. The space is a design lover’s Eden, offering specialty items like a pair of 1950s Italian commodes and hand-painted lamps by Liz Marsh.

The master of mod, Design Within Reach welcomed its new Westport outpost (154 Post Road E.) with pieces by iconic designers like Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson along with a 30-foot swatch wall for finding the perfect palette.

And a short drive away, Anthropologie & Co. (59 Post Road E.) cut the ribbon on its latest concept store. The brand’s signature aesthetic is on display in nearly 35,000 square feet of a former oil tycoon’s mansion.
