WHO: Architect Takashi Yanai, managing partner at Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects in Culver City, who takes us on architectural tours of his projects and shows us inspiration from museum exhibits, local coffee shops and his travels.

WHAT: Yanai, a former editor at Japan’s architecture magazine GA Houses, uses his feed to share experiences such as visits to historic homes, snapshots of Japanese tea bowls and behind-the-scenes glimpses of photo shoots.

WHY: Initially used as a means of sharing images with friends, Yanai now has more than 60,000 followers, allowing him to communicate directly with worldwide architecture and design fans.

“Within this finite format, using only my phone, I have been able to dabble in photography. I don’t think there is necessarily a strict vision, but I suppose it’s a reflection of my own sensibilities as a designer, or maybe sometimes an homage to images by other photographers I admire.”
