Made in Sydney by the eponymous artisan-owner, Studio Henry Wilson’s pieces are simple and chic. At the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, Habachy Atelier recently welcomed an array of Wilson’s pieces, including the Spot Light in blackened bronze. Cast bronze is shown.
Since debuting his eponymous Habachy Designs’ atelier at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center in March, designer Michael Habachy has become highly regarded for his curatorial eye. Arguably then, the arrival of Australian luxury brand Studio Henry Wilson to his moody, modern fourth-floor showroom is par for the course.
The seven-year-old Sydney company specializes in sculptural furnishings, lighting, accessories and components, as well as sleek stone creations and cast pieces in bronze and aluminum.
Serving as the brand’s exclusive representative in the Southeast, Habachy says he’s drawn to the handmade collection’s chic spin on items that meet utilitarian needs. Take, for example, Wilson’s jaunty Vide Poche dishes that serve as catch-all trays.
Other pieces on display include Wilson’s Surface Wall Sconce in gunmetal bronze or black travertine, the Thoronet Dish in black travertine, Fold Light and Spot Light in Blackened Bronze and, finally, cast-bronze Fin Bookends in two sizes.
Habachy has merchandized the pieces to mingle seamlessly among his own custom furnishings and carved limestone designs for Tilebar, plus products by leading international brands like Pulpo, Fredericia, By Lassen and Materia that seem to match Studio Henry Wilson’s vibe.
Also new to the atelier? Original mixed-media works by Atlanta plaster artist and painter Tommy Taylor, a range of conceptual tables and upholstery pieces from New Delhi-based DeMuro Das and selects from Brooklyn-based De La Vega Designs. Sculptural pieces by Faye Toogood will debut this fall.
