The Insider: Jillian O’Neill

Jillian O’Neill Collection

Much like any well-tailored outfit, Jillian O’Neill‘s spaces are as smart as they are sophisticated. Credit this to the Houston interior designer’s former life as a model, when she worked for greats like Giorgio Armani, Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford. Today, O’Neill’s elegant aesthetic is readily apparent in her recently launched eponymous collection of furnishings, which she calls the “representation of her entire career in design.” All six statement pieces are crafted in Houston from exotic woods and stones, hand-cast metals and luxuriously soft Holland & Sherry Interiors upholstery. Here, O’Neill shares her thoughts on the city she calls home.

What spurred the furniture line? I am so inspired by the makers here. People take such pride in their work, and that is what I attribute to the launch of my furniture collection. I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. The entire experience has been creatively exciting.

Favorite neighborhood haunt: I frequent Houston Heights most days, checking in on custom pieces we are making for customers or reviewing prototype drawings. I like to pop by Revival Market for lunch or, if there’s limited time, Revolucion Coffee + Juice.

On the horizon: With the launch of my furniture line this year, so many fantastic things are going on. Not only am I building treasured relationships with design firms right here in Houston as they discover my pieces, but I also have sales coming in from firms across the country. The response has been so encouraging that I am expanding the collection for 2018.
