Tucson Modernism Week
Running October 5-13, The Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation presents a series of programs, film, lectures and events that detail and celebrate “Sonoran Modern.” That’s the term that has come to define the midcentury boom in the area’s architecture, the hallmarks of which are the use of regional materials, adaptation to the desert climate, clean, simple lines and an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living. Lectures, film, exhibits, tours and stylish cocktail parties are on the docket for the week, which concludes with the ever-popular vintage trailer exhibition.
