nterior designer Jennifer Post is in a New York state of mind–after all, the city is, she says, “my love.” The owner of Jennifer Post Design characterizes her trademark style as soft, sleek, modern, tranquil, and “always comfortable.” To that end, she notes, many of her clients are requesting less technology in their homes rather than more. “Life is so hectic and people are so busy these days; they don’t want the fuss of having the iPad controlling 15 different things,” she avers. “They like to come home, flip a switch, have their lights turn on, and relax.” Here, Post shares her preferred purlieus in The Big Apple.
SHOP: Ralph Pucci showroom (above) is my go-to for furniture, lighting and art–Ralph is a dear friend of mine–plus there’s a gallery space on the premises. Lazzoni on West 18th Street remains one of the top furniture companies in New York. I’ve worked closely with them on many projects over the years and they’re like family.
EAT: Altesi on the Upper East Side is perfect for a quick business lunch–try the lobster salad appetizer with tarragon aioli, white truffle pearls and asparagus. Jean-Georges is the best for special occasions. From spring through fall, you can sit outside.
BROWSE: I love The Neue Galerie on Fifth Avenue for its early 20th-century German and Austrian art. I also buy a lot from the Nancy Margolis Gallery in the Chelsea art district. And of course, everybody loves the MoMA.
PLAY: Central Park is so gorgeous, even in the winter I walk through it every day. I hike, ride my bike and do lots of power walking. Having grown up on a farm in Ohio, I want to be outdoors whenever possible.
