Popular home decor brand West Elm has announced plans to open its latest hotel, on the Portland waterfront, in 2020.
The full-service boutique hotel will boast 150 rooms, a lobby bar and restaurant, and an outdoor pool with views of the harbor. Plus, its location in the middle of a burgeoning cultural center will allow visitors to enjoy local shopping, dining and entertainment year-round.
“Portland has experienced a renaissance within the past decade, creating a distinct and modern vibe, while honoring its maritime history,” West Elm Hospitality Vice President Peter Fowler says.
The property — which will offer vistas of Casco Bay, Fort Gorges and more — will be developed by Portland Foreside Development Company and managed by DDK.
“Our collaboration with Portland Foreside Development Company brings forth local knowledge and expertise that will deliver an original experience for guests, as well as the surrounding seaside community,” Fowler adds.
The new location is just the latest property West Elm has announced for its hotel chain within the past year. Starting in 2019, other West Elm hotels will open their doors in Detroit; Indianapolis; Minneapolis; Oakland, California; and Savannah, Georgia.
