“A powder bath doesn’t have a master bathroom’s functional needs, so it’s the perfect space to let an overall decorative concept flourish in a big way, says Jennifer Greer Hartmann of Greer Interior Design in Austin.
She obliged the homeowner’s love of flowers and the color pink throughout this Houston home, grounding those elements with heavy doses of black. Case in point: this bathroom’s Ellie Cashman Design wallpaper, which paves the way for the bold looks below.
SOMETHING TO MARBLE AT
“A powder room is one space in which you can really have fun. Step outside your comfort zone and use that wallpaper you’ve always admired or a paint color you’ve always loved.”
OUT OF YOUR SHELL
“The owner of this home was smitten with the large shells in a Bali resort where she stayed, and one of her only requests in this project was to incorporate a shell sink.”
GRAPHIC AND NOVEL
“Powder baths are the perfect room in which to add patterned wallpaper, an antique mirror and beautiful lighting. Treat it like the jewel box of the home.”
What this Little Rock, Arkansas, space lacks in size it makes up for in personality. Here, designer Kevin Walsh of Bear Hill Interiors set the tone with Eskayel‘s Dynasty wallpaper from Studio Four NYC, adding a custom vanity with Charles Edwards hardware, a polished marble countertop and a vintage Venetian mirror. “A small space that is bold or dramatic is such a unique way to surprise visitors,” Walsh says.
Pigeon & Poodle‘s Manchester collection–which features this navy wastebasket and matching soap dish–dazzles with its faux-shagreen texture and a wood veneer trim. It’s a great example of detail-rich style and provides the ideal finishing touch in the powder bath.
Tap your inner host or hostess with the metal cross handle widespread faucet from THG Paris‘ West Coast collection by Timothy Corrigan. “Many bathroom fixtures feel utilitarian,” Corrigan says, “but I wanted to create fixtures that would turn a routine and often mundane experience into one that is special.”
Peacock Alley‘s Overture towels help your guests wash their hands of boring bathroom style. Featuring 100-percent long staple cotton for luxury and durability, these hostess essentials epitomize Southern hospitality with their scalloped dobby design and make an ideal canvas for a classic monogram detail.
