Architect Annette Martin designed a Boulder residence to have a farmhouse aesthetic, which Austin-based designer Fern Santini complemented with eclectic interiors. A custom Lindsey Adelman Studio light fixture suspends above the living room, where Santina arranged a Minotti sofa with a pair of Berman Rosetti armchairs upholstered with curly lamb fur by The Ranch Collection; the Art Deco chairs are covered with a white Pollack fabric and a pink textile by Nobilis. A large artwork by Hung Liu is positioned above the fireplace, and the artworks on the windows are by Brad Miller.

The wife has a passion for architecture and design, and we worked together to create layers of color and texture and a mix of furnishings from different periods,” says Austin-based designer Fern Santini, of a Colorado farmhouse. “I love furniture and lighting that’s art and so does she. That really became the driving force for the style of this house.”

Santini’s clients commissioned architect Annette Martin to create an agrarian design that ties to the landscape. “They wanted a Colorado farmhouse with a guesthouse,” Martin says. “Three separate buildings clad with vertical painted wood siding and fieldstone step uphill, forming courtyards with their exterior walls.”

In the living room, early American trusses are a rustic counterpoint to a custom Lindsey Adelman Studio light fixture and a pair Art Deco chairs covered in raspberry and cream silk-velvets. Sconces by Jean Royere enliven the entry, where there’s also a mirror by artist Brock Enright and a 1940s oak buffet with a curved silhouette. And in the dining room, Santini placed midcentury Lucite chairs with cushions covered in Schumacher‘s iconic Chiang Mai Dragon fabric.

In the master bedroom, Santini wrapped the walls in a de Gournay wallcovering. “It’s so traditional,” says the designer. “But the large faceted-glass pendants by David Wiseman Studio that hang above the nightstands prevent the room from feeling too formal.”
